Trouble in Legoland

As if the Danes weren’t pushing their luck when they published those infamous caricatures in the Jyllands-Posten last September, now they are really asking for it. The notorious Danish toy manufacturer Lego has abused the image of the prophet Muhammad once again, this time turning him into a Santa key chain. The message is clear: not only will Christianity triumph, the capitalist system will too; any prophet you can come up with can easily be turned into Papai Noel and in turn be turned into a mousepad, keychain, mug, slippers or any other form of merchandise.

Various European leaders continue to insist that the keychain bares no resemblance to Muhammad but clearly depicts Santa Claus, (granted certain modifications to the Lego-medium), but have urged Denmark to put pressure on Lego to cease production.

A Lego spokesperson (which will remain anonymous) has revealed that no one at Lego infact knows what Muhammad or Santa look like, and that the keychain in question looks like all other Lego-people, but with a big beard.

The crisis which Libertarian extremeists have dubbed 'a challange to freedom of speech' does not seem to be heading towards a foreseeable conclusion, and it appears that Lego and the Danes will continue to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. In the words of another prophet: ‘The West shall shake the East awake…While ye have the night for morn.’
